There are many opportunities for residents with the OSA. These include specialty activism, networking prospects and leadership skills development. Our society believes that all anesthesiologists, especially residents, should be actively present in discussions about the future of our specialty. These are exciting times in health care reform, with opportunities for us in multiple avenues including the Perioperative Surgical Home model.
OSA executive committee members will elect 2 residents as delegates from each of the CA-2 and CA-3 class to serve as OSA resident delegatves. These residents will have the responsibility of relaying current issues to their peers and attending nationwide conferences. Serving as a resident delegate is an honor and a great opportunity to participate in current health care and legislative issues.
OSA Residents are full members of our society. Elected resident representatives are able to participate in quarterly executive committee meetings and at national conferences like the ASA annual meeting and the ASA legislative conference. All residents can participate with activisim in the community and have the opportunity to contribute to the OSA newsletter.
