OSA Day at the Capitol
Fellow OSA Members,
I'm so excited to announce our first annual OSA Day at the Capitol! Swap your calls, get your day covered, and come join us.
Over 50% of Americans don't know that anesthesiologists are physicians. This is a wonderful opportunity for us to educate Oregon's decision-makers on the critical role that we play in healthcare.
We will be providing education on relevant policy issues, tips on talking with legislators, information on the legislative process, and, of course, food. We will set up meetings for you with your representatives (and accompany you if you want). While we plan on being at the Capitol from 9am to 4pm, you're welcome to depart at the conclusion of your last scheduled meeting.
There are several threats to the practice of medicine and anesthesiology this session: trial lawyers attempting to eliminate caps on malpractice claims and nurse anesthetists asking for unlimited opioid prescribing power, for example. Legislators need to hear our expert opinions on these issues!
I'm looking forward to seeing you there!
