The Oregon Society of Anesthesiologists has submitted a policy, "Protecting Patients from Predatory Insurer Policy regarding Emergency Care," to the OMA Board of Trustees.  Anthem BCBS has already implemented a policy in 6 states that allows them to refuse to pay for an insured patient's visit to the Emergency Department if it was later deemed not to be an "emergency."  The OSA anticipates significant harm to patients, both financially and medically, were they to implement such a policy in Oregon.  Please visit the OMA webpage HERE to comment (it's the first link.)
